Hello, Your request for fans to share a memory or two of our backyard Hero, Bob Seger, made me want to share a memory of the first time I seen Bob and the Silver Bullet Band.It was at the brand new Pontiac Silverdome. What an exciting time it was for well over 80,000.My friends and I had walked four miles carrying a styrofoam cooler filled with hot dogs, chips and sodas.Back then, we were allowed into the stadium carrying all this to the top level to our seats only to enjoy and share amongst other fans.We enjoyed it all,a night of pure rock and roll, neighborhood style as we watched everyone getting into, what I believe perhaps may be one of the best shows ever performed by a beloved brother that has always remembered his home state. My wife and I were fortunate to enjoy your concert from the front row in Grand Rapids,(11/12),and I want everyone to know that this man has a soul of love. Not only for his family, as I truly felt the connection between Bob and his brother (seated with other family members in the audience)when watching Bob sing and look over to see him. I witnessed a man remembering from his past as brothers growing up playing cowboys and realizing how far they've been together, but for his music also. He appeared to genuinely appreciate the fans as much, it not more, as we do him.Love the new recordings Bob keep them coming.Thank you for allowing me to share these memories.God Bless and Happy Holidays to all.

The class of 1969 at Royal Oak Kimball had a member who started the first Bob Seger fan club when we were in high school. We loved it when he came to play at our dances!

As one of Bob's back-up singers on the 1980 "Against the Wind" tour, I have many great memories. One of the fondest memories I have is how every Sunday, a limousine would come and pick me up, no matter what city we were in and take me to Mass(compliments of Bob and his management team). It was truly an exceptional gesture and allowed me to follow my faith. Although I'm not touring the country with a Rock 'n Roll legend anymore, I still sing, only now it's for the man upstairs on the weekends at my church. Your generosity has never been forgotten. Thank you.

Just wish I could contact someone in his p.r.dept. to show them an outline of a play written from his american storm album,so as to make him a bigger star than he already is.And much better than the abba show or Billy Joels show that apeared on broadway.

Back in 1973 when my son was 8 months old we went to Cobo Hall to an Old Car show. He was on stage singing and my son was crying. Bob walked off stage picked up my son and sang Rambling Gambling Man to him on stage. I have never forgot that and now my son has a great memory of a really truly nice man. My son stopped crying and Bob actually sung him to sleep on stage.

My memories are from a very early time in Bob Seger's musical career.
My friends and I grew up in Pontiac and went to local dances at such places as the IAC club in Waterford, Mt. Holly and Silverbell Ski lodges. They had dances in the summer. Silverbell Ski hill was on Bald Mtn. road and I remember remarking about how I didn't care for his long hair. Long hair was just starting to happen.

The music most of my friends and I dug was Motown music. You must go back to 1966-1968 when Vietnam was a big factor in the lives of teenagers. There were hippies and there were the guys we knew that were from a blue collar town and most of them got drafted or enlisted. My boyfriend (now and still my husband) was in Vietnam and I frowned on long-hair hippies at the time. But you could'nt classify Seger as a hippie and his soulful sounds started to catch on with us. We would go to local dances to see him and one of the best times was with my best buddies Judy & Dianna and at Mt. Holly. Bob rocked the place. I'm quite sure it was 1967, the year we all graduated from St. Mike's and lived life to the fullest that summer. We had to deal with race riots, assasinations and Vietnam but we partied hardy that summer before everyone's life changed drastically.

I still love to see Bob and his new CD is the bomb (do they still say that?)

1976 Anniversary

My wife and I were about to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary in October 1976 while I was stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois. She had mentioned that she had seen a flashing sign at local roller rink, in Gurnee, Illinois, that Bob Seger was to perform at.
Sooooo…...I excused myself to go and “wash” our car and sought out that “flashing sign” and sure enough Bob Seger was performing at that local roller rink that very night for 5 bucks.
When I returned back to our apartment, my wife asked me to call and find out if there were chairs to sit since she did not want to sit on the floor. The lady on the other end of the phone said that there were no chairs and we would have to sit on the floor. So I told my bride “they have chairs”……. Ooops!
The band was smokin’, Bob was belting out his newest tune “Night Moves” and somewhere during the show, Alto Reed climbed to the top of the sound system for a solo and smacked his head on the metal rafters of the ceiling. He never missed a lick of that solo even though, I imagine, that his head was throbbin’.
Well, that was 30 plus anniversaries ago and that very same lady has gone with her Michigan born and raised “Seger addict” to more of his concerts than either of us can remember. Venues like the 4-H Fairs in Pontiac, Cobo Hall, the weeklong events at Pine Knob, the list goes on and on.
Recently we attended the Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band performance here in Nashville. It was one of the biggest and best karaoke nights that I have ever experienced!!
And Bob, thanks for the music and the fantastic memories.

P.S. Bob come back to Nashville real soon, 2 encores were just not enough!!

I was in a local Waterford guitar shop (MotorCityGuitar) waiting in line to buy some bass strings and noticed the tuner the guy in front of me was buying. It was very small and I commented on it "wow thats a tiny tuner" the guy went on to explain how you attach it to the guitar while on stage and keep your guitar in tune while performing. We talked for a couple minutes, he payed for his tuners, we exchanged have a good days and he left. I was next in line and as I was paying Marty (owner of MotorCityGuitar) looks at me and says "good to see the king in here" I was kind of puzzled and replied "the king, whos that". Well it was Bob Seger and to tell you the truth I never would of known he just seemed like a normal dude and no one was making a fuss about him being there, he was just waiting in line with the rest of the folks.

I have loved Bob Seger, his music and his band, from day one! True "home town" great, fantastic music, and being he writes alot of his own music, makes it that much more hearfelt. Unfortunately, I never was able to see him in concert when I was young. That is all changing now, as I have tickets to see him at the Palace on December 22, and I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No matter what the weather, rain, snow, sleet, blizzard, .....I WILL BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I have been a HUGE Seger fan for many years, I remember spending the night in Pine Knob parking lot to get tickets. When I was pregnant with my daughter for the against the wind tour, I made a shit that said "Future Bob Seger Fan" with an arrow pointing down and 26 years later, she is. He is truly Michigan's Son.

We are so excited to have obtained tickets and get to see him together now 27 years later.
Keep Rocking Bob!!!!!!

My father took me to me very first concert ever, which was Bob Seger at Cobo Arena on "The Distance Tour" in 1983. I have seen him every tour since, sometimes 2 or 3 nights in a row. Now over 20 years since my into to Bob Seger, I am taking my 5 year old son (who sings "Beautiful Loser" word for word.) to his first concert on Dec. 20. I hope it will be just as memorable for him.

I saw Bob Seger at Bay City Central when I was a teenager in the 70s. As I only had beer money, I didn't have any other money so I saw him from outside of the stadium. What a concert! It has to be the best free concert I ever heard! Later, I caught his performance at Pine Knob. Not the same, though. Kevbo.

NOTHING EXTRAORDINARY TO TELL, EXCEPT IT WAS ONE HECKUVA SHOW.

I SAW BOB SEGER PERFORM OUTDOORS @ THE ICE RINK ACROSS FROM KIMBALL HIGH SCHOOL IN ROYAL OAK. IIRC IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SUMMER OF EITHER 1968 OR 1969.

I WAS 16 OR 17 Y.O. AT THE TIME AND ALTHOUGH I HAD SEEN PINK FLOYD, ALICE COOPER AND TED NUGENT PERFORM AT THE SAME VENUE, SEGER'S CONCERT STANDS OUT AS THE BEST IN THE SUMMER SERIES AIMED AT SUBURBAN HS STUDENTS.

THE OUTDOOR SETTING MADE IT EASIER ON THE EYES (SMOKE) AND EARS (ROCK'N'ROLL). IT'S A NIGHT I'LL NEVER FORGET.

Bob Seger at Cobo Hall. It was the best gift ever. Here we sat front and center, when it was time for the oncore Seger sang the old chuck berry song and pointed to me "there she is standing by the record machine couldn't be a minute over 16" that was the greatest gift ever. Rock on BOB

I think the year was 1968. I saw "Bob Seger and the Last Heard" (Pep had a big ear on the front of his bass drum) at the Roseville Theatre. I think the Shades of Blue were on the bill but Seger was the headliner. I remember the songs East Side Story, Pursecution Smith, Heavy Music as well as most of the other songs from his Ramblin' Gamblin' Man album. I went with my friends, Dennis Cowells, Tom Rybarz and his brother Gary. Gary, who was the drummer in our "basement" band, and I caught one of the drum sticks Pep threw into the crowd at the end of the set. Neither of us wanted to "give it up" so we broke the drum stick in two.

In 1976 at the age of 15 my neighbor was a photographer for Bob and his band. At 15 I was in love with Seger and actually still am at 45. My neighbor was kind enough to mat and frame a gorgeous photo of Bob for me!

In 1997 my daughter and I were at the Motor City Music Awards at the
State Theater in Detroit and met Bob. We were all parting back stage
and Bob was having a great time. I asked him to autograph the photo
which he did but he was sharp enough to date the photo as well.

It was the summer of 1975. I was 15 years old. There were four of us, me, Theresa, Julayne and Diana. We left in the wee hours of the morning to stand in line at Cobo hall for Seger tickets. They gave out Place in line tickets, and we had a high number. Someone came by and told us he would sell his place in line ticket with a low number for 5$. So I bought it, and we got our tickets! Theresa had the mumps, and missed the concert. I don’t remember all that much about the concert, but I do remember the saxophone player on a trapeze. One of those things I’ll never forget

Back in the day a group of us were at Rosy O’Gradys in Berkley watching one of our Favorite Bands the Rick Hall Band - who comes walking in – Bob Seger. It was such a happening place that night that our group gave up our table to let his group sit down – right down in front and by the dance floor.

Well that’s my story – not the most exciting but, fun enough to remember after all these years later!

Believe it or not the first time I saw Bob Seger was in the Auditorium of the High School I attended. The school was St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Southgate, MI. It was in 1970. I remember it was a packed auditorium drawing all the teens from the downriver area and a lot of fun.

(That was where I saw Alice Cooper for the first time also.)

We had quite a rockin catholic high school going on at that time!

Back in the late 1995 I was a Security Guard for the Palace of Auburn Hills and DTE Energy Music Theatre. During one of 7 sold-out concerts for Steve Miller Band. Bob Seger came to visit the band thru the VIP Entrance and even though it was for a brief few minutes,
I met Bob Seger in person and I told him how much I loved his music and that no other band can make music like he can and asked him when he was going to go on tour again? Bob was very friendly and told me " I love my fans, I enjoy playing music for everyone as I miss it from time to time. I had the opportunity to be around my kids a lot. I guess I could have kept working, but I had them when I was 47. You only get to see all this stuff once. I just chose to work at home and watch them. When I get a chance, I'll talk to my producer and doctor about getting back on tour". About 6 Months later. He was on tour again. Pre-Sale Tickets were available to Palace employees before the general public, But Bob felt that was not fair to his fans and so the Palace of Auburn Hills canceled the pre-sale for its employees. I got to see Bob in person for his 1996 concert the 6 of 7 shows in Metro Detroit during his tour.

My greatest Seger memory spans waaaaaay back to just a few months ago when Seger announced he would be going on tour. He announced some of his tour dates and locations but had yet to say that he would be doing any shows in the Detroit area. Four of my friends, my fiancé and I had never seen him in concert before and didn’t want to risk missing him on tour so we decided to purchase six tickets to the Cincinnati show on Thanksgiving weekend. We planned on cramming into one vehicle and one hotel room. Just after we purchased the tickets, which was a few weeks before our concert, Seger announced he would be doing four shows in our own backyard at the Palace. We’re a little upset that we don’t have tickets to any of the Palace shows, but the road trip to Cincinnati was still worth it. We might have been the only Detroiters there but it was still the best concert we’ve ever been too. Seger sounded great and rocked the house.

Bob Seger, and his band use to play at my high school Saturday night dances, (Aquinas High School of Southgate, which no longer exist), back in the late 60's. My girlfriend and I use to sit on the steps of the stage and watch Bob Seger sing, we were in awe.
He was just so cool back then & still today, we loved him. It would be great to go to his concert someday with my childhood friend so we could enjoy him together again. Aquinas use to have so many cool bands (Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, to name a few) back in the late 60's play at our Saturday night dances at Aquinas, but Seger was ALWAYS my favorite, and still is.

He is part of my childhood I will never forget, and he is still apart of my adult hood!

My Bob Seger story is not about seeing him but I feel it is a very important story to tell, at least to me. My son Tommy was a big Bob Seger fan. He passed away on June 12th, 2004 at the age of 28 from diabetes complications. His favorite Seger song was Turn the Page because he loved the saxophone on it. We were with him in his hospital room on June 12th and we had a radio playing with 94.7 on. At about 5:30pm Turn the Page came on. It was during this song that he died. I feel it was his way of letting us know he was going to be all right. The words Turn the Page are on his headstone and on my car to let everyone know how important this song is to us. The wonderful people at 94.7 played Turn the Page on June 12th, 2005 at 5:30pm in his memory and called it Tommy's song. I miss him very much but each time I hear his song on the radio I know he is with me. My husband and I are going to be at the Palace on Dec. 20th to see Bob Seger for the first time and I know that when he sings Turn the Page Tommy will be there with us. We will be in section 120 handicap seating as my husband is in a wheelchair from a stroke he had 7 years ago.

Thank you for letting me tell you my story.

You’re asking for Seger memories, and the very first time I remember seeing Bob Seger was when he performed live on a show back in the later '60's. I don't remember the name of it, but it was broadcast on channel 9 from Canada, and was on about 4:00 pm. If I'm not mistaken, they even were wearing nice dress clothes for their performance. Yes, it's been quite a while, and I'm nearly the same age as he is, and have been a fan ever since. I'ver seen him at the Silverdome twice, trust me, I like him better dressed down, then he was back then. He was introduced as coming from the Ann Arbor area, and I believe Pioneer High School. ON this I could be mistaken.

The year was 1973 the album out was back in 72, I also remember him coming to our high school for a promo for Wrigley’s spearmint gum wrappers. I am from Allen Park, Lincoln Park, Ecorse, areas I now and have been for the last 29 years been living in Atlanta GA , but do come up and enjoy the dreamcruise every year. My first and only time seeing or meeting Bob Seger was in high school. 10th gr. I was 17. I attended F. J.Brennan Catholic High School. we had an assembly featuring Bob Seger's Drummer Charlie, who was in a wheelchair and we were shocked and honored to listen to him speak about his accident and he answered ? After it was soooo cool. Our prom theme of 1983 was titled "THE FAMOUS FINAL SCENE". One of my all time favorites. That is the closest I’ve been to meeting The Silver Bullet Band.

I saw Bob Seger at Cobo, but I don’t remember the year. Some time in the 80s I’m sure. 38 Special was the warm up. My most vivid memory of Bob, however is seeing him in the LAX airport just before my flight back to Detroit. Turned out he was on my flight. This had to be around 1991 or 92. I actually followed him into the men’s room, but when I realized the number he was feeling like was 2, I decided to leave him alone.

When I was just a ladd, growing up in the small village of Clinton, the "cool" place to go on Friday nights was the Wampler's Lake Pavilion in the Irish Hills, out near Michigan International Speedway. It was a dive of a building, near the lake. No chairs, you sat on the concrete floor. It was 1969 and 1970. Seger would play there once or twice a summer. He was a "local group" in those days. Little could we know how famous he would become. We just enjoyed his music. Sitting on the floor we could touch the "stage" which was merely a part of the floor that was raised a foot above the rest. The front row was a foot or two from that stage. It was an awesome venue and there were lots of "to-be-celebrities". Iggy and the Stooges were also an annual thing there. But Seger would fill the place. It held probably 150 people. Very cool.

Back in 1974 when I was in 11th grade, friend of mine had bought a brand new van and before he dropped any stems or seeds or got it smelling like pot, he said lets get some tickets to the Bob Seger-Chuck Berry concert in Griffin Hollow Canada. Well needless to say, when we were asked why we were coming into Canada buy the customs officer, my friend replies, TOO PUT A GOOD BUZZ ON AT THE CONCERT TOMARROW. Not the best thing to say at that time. Even the girls we were with had to drop their undies, but they didn't have to bend over. After all said and done it was well worth it. Seger rocked Canada big-time and a time I’ll never forget.

I have saw Seger about 10 times in the 70s&80s. A couple were like 4th on a bill at the Michigan Palace. I saw one of the Cobo shows that Live Bullet was recorded, but I don't think it was the one where the bulk of the LP was recorder. I don't recall the same things being said to the audience. I saw the Silverdome date, which was great even on the 3rd or 4th echo. And I saw him numerous times at Pine Knob. I recently moved to Mooresville ,NC. Which is about 30 miles North of Charlotte. Bob is really popular down here, so when it was announced that he would tour. There was great demand for Seger to make a stop here. When he announced his show at Bobcat Arena, I was pretty excited until I saw the $65 ticket price. Now the cost of living is lower down here, so if your a working man like myself, you make a couple dollars less an hour. But you look at the ticket prices across the board and there the same in every city. This is quite surprising for a man who used to be classified as working class Rock & Roll. So as you can imagine, tickets sales are not good here. Maybe you would want to mention that to your readers. It's defiantly warmer down here, and there are great seats. To view in contrast, look at the line up at the Warren Haynes x-mas Jam at the Asheville civicenter this weekend. All for $42.50. No wonder NASCAR is so popular down here. At the Lowe's Motor Speedway, you can get a grandstand seat(good seats) for any of the top races for $20-$30 a ticket, and they let you bring your own beer. Remember when you could do that at Pine Knob and Meadowbrook. Seger has joined the ranks of the high priced promoter. Shows you that you can never go back, and Rock & Roll does forget. Baby, Baby your not the same.

The last concert tour was the first time my husband & I got to enjoy a Seger concert in person. We were really having a great time. Well, the guy behind us was standing up and was pretty buzzed. He slopped some of his beer on me, and some on my jacket that was lying over the seat. I turned around and gave him a look, and went on enjoying the concert. Then I felt more beer on me - he’s pouring it on my jacket and sloshing it at me. I asked him to stop. He did it again, so I grabbed him by the collar of his jacket and got in his face, telling him it’s time to knock it off. Now mind you, I’m pretty much the basic soccer mom type. By the time it escalated to this, some of the people around me had already noticed what was going on, and Security was on the way. The Security guys immediately realized I wasn’t the one looking to fight, I just wanted to enjoy the concert. Did I mention that my husband was having such a good time enjoying the concert he never even noticed what was going on? The security guys took my husband and me to side stage seats - we could almost reach out and grab Bob Seger by the ankles! After I calmed down we were able to enjoy an awesome concert!

Hi there: My story goes back to 1971or 1970 I think? I lived in Livonia and, during the summer, we go to ford ice rink in Livonia to the LYI, to see & hear band like, the Amboy dukes, Brownville station,Tea garden & Van winkel. Bob had jusk broke up with the Bob Seger system. So he started to play with Tea Garden & Van Winkel. That night was so beautiful in more way than I could or would express. He also play that night on the radio live.

I was at a bar on 6 mile and Woodward, called Limbo’s, Bob Seger was playing
I forget exactly when, around 1975, Anyhow Bob came on stage it was between sets, I was sitting next to the stage with a pitcher of beer and popcorn, waiting for him to come on, and he says into the microphone is there a Charlie Valenti here, and I looked up and said Bob, I'm right here and he said go see the bouncer, your friend was kicked out of the bar, he got into a fight, so I gave my friend my car keys and told him to wait in the parking lot, cause I'm gonna drink beer and watch Seger's next set !

Living in the Howell area I seldom read the Oakland Press". I was in the Auburn Hills area and had the opportunity to grab a copy and saw the Bob Seger memories request. It did bring back some fond memories!!!

In 1986 I was finishing up seven years in the Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. I heard on the radio that Bob Seger and Silver Bullet Band were going to be making a stop in Austin, TX. There were several Army buddies that had heard his music but were not real big fans of Mr. Seger. I talked them all to putting up the $25.00 for the ticket and I paid for the gas, money was tight in those days!!! Well we left Ft. Hood around noon for a 45 min drive to Austin, what a party!!!!!!!!!!! As we arrived at the stadium there were people already tailgating and jamming to Seger. We had a great afternoon and the concert was one of best I have ever seen. As we drove back to the base the guys were hooked, we spent the rest of our time that summer reminiscing and listening to Bob. As the years have passed the seven friends have gone there own way and we do not talk much but when we do the talk always ends with us mentioning that wonderful evening with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. I'm lucky enough to have 8 tickets for the Dec. 22nd concert and I have chosen 6 good friends to join me along with my wife Sue. I'm sure he will put on a super concert and my thoughts will drift back to 1986 in Austin with my Army buddies. I'm older now but still running against the wind!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob Seger was the first concert my parents let me go to Cobo to see. I went with about 10 teenage (15-16) girlfriends. I walked into the middle of a fight, and ended up with a black eye when I was accidentally hit by some guy. Needless to say, I didn't go to Cobo again! (at least, not to my parents knowledge!)

Bob Seger is the greatest thing since sliced bread! I have been a huge fan since the 1970's. My best friend in school, Carol and I went to see him everywhere he was at. From Sherwood Forest to Skid Way lake to Hidden Hollow Lounge in Saginaw. We didn't care. We were going! He even played for my class party after graduation in 1974! Nobody believes me though. But he really did. It was awesome! And then going to the bar at Hidden Hollow to see him was fantastic. It was the bar at the golf course and was built over a creek. The dance floor was very small and he was only a foot away. The floor would bounce up and down. He even stopped singing once and asked us to move back as he wasn't used to playing so close. My most recent memory, and the best one, is about 19 years ago at the Juke Box on Woodward. He was in there along with the band and Glen Frye. Nobody paid any attention to him but I couldn't stand it. Had to go meet him and shake his hand. What a gentleman! I told him about playing at my senior party in 1974 and he threw his head back and laughed and said "yes I did **** like that back then!" I was in heaven! And Alto Reed brings another memory of junior high school. He played in a band called Ormandy. For some unremembered reason, they played a concert in the auditorium. I have numerous photos and autographs and the tip off the drummers drumstick! Oh the 70's were the best. Sure am looking forward to the 20th. Can't wait to see my man Bob again! Coz Rock N Roll Never Forgets!

THE FIRST TIME I SAW BOB SEGER WAS IN THE SPRING OF1968 AT STEVENSON HIGH SCHOOL IN LIVONIA. THE SCHOOL PUT ON A ALL CITY CONCERT WITH OTHER BANDS TO OPEN. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT SOME BANDS TURN DOWN THE SCHOOL IN PLAYING UNTIL THEY HEARD THAT BOB SEGER WAS THE MAIN BAND. THE SCHOOL BROUGHT SEGER BACK IN 1969. WHAT IS FUNNY IS MY PARENTS USE TO SEE HIM PLAY IN WINDSOR. WASN'T THE BAND KNOWN AS THE BOB SEGER SYSTEM BACK THEN. I CAN STILL HERE THEM DOING HEAVY MUSIC.

Boy, where do I start? The one I remember from a long time ago was June of 1980, at Cobo. I left my boyfriend that night. But it was a great concert! In 1996 I went to all 7 shows and after parties. Everyone was there but Bob. I was also at his award show at the Royal Oak Music theatre, and his record release party with JJ where he performed two songs live. That was awesome! I went to Saginaw and Grand Rapids so far this year, and have tickets to all 4 Detroit shows. Can you tell I am a big Bob Seger fan? The first time this year I saw him and he sang alot of his old stuff and it was great. I have not heard Katmadu in along time. I was also at wcsx when he was on the radio live, the day his album was released. He signed my photo and my album size picture of his album which I helped advertise.(I also had coasters and postcards too). I love his new album!!!!! I also met Bob at the Rock and Roll hall of fame awards where Kid Rock inducted Bob 2 years ago. It was about time he was inducted! He definatly deserved it after all the great music he has put out.
A Big Bob Seger Fan!!!

I believe I have one of the earliest Memori9es of Bob Seger than any that I have read on this site! It was 61 or 62 at the Drayton Inn on Dixie Hwy. and he came in for the sunday afternoon jam session,he was a teenager 16 or 17, and the house band was Danny Zella and the Zelltones Some people in the audience thought he was related to Pete Seger! I have met him numerous times and cant remember all the bars I saw him play in. Hope he makes it to florida on his new tour! How abuot a free ticket for have the earliest memory!! My boyfriend & I (now my husband) saw Seger at the Silverdome in the mid 70's. We had main floor tickets, and we sat ON THE FLOOR. People brought in food & drinks (mainly alcohol!) & a drunk guy fell on me. The band put on a fabulous show, with the sax player climbing to the top of the speakers & wailing out a great solo during "Turn the Page." A great time was had by all! Seger performed at East Detroit High (so did Rod Stewart!) but I was too young to go, early 70's.

Bob Seger was the first concert I ever saw. I remember it was his Detroit tour back in 1978. I think I was one of his youngest fans, being 6 yrs old at the time. Most of my Family couldn't wait to see him. My Dad owned everyone of his albums all the way back to the " Bob Seger System ". And my Mom would tell people that she was 99% country & 1% rock & roll and that 1% was Bob Seger! I still to this day love every song of his from past and future. My sister & brother in law saw him front row in Grand Rapids and they said without a doubt that he's still the same old Bob!! Keep on Rockin Bob, We Love You!

I am only 13 years old and I saw Bob Seger last Tuesday (DEC.12) in Louisville,KY at Freedom Hall. It was my first rock concert and I have liked Bob Seger since I was 7 or 8. Now I have every album from Beautiful Loser to Face The Promise. I also have the reissue of Smokin' OPS and the CD+DVD edition of FTP and the original and i have the original cds to Against the wind and stranger in town before they were recently remastered. I have also got 7 45 record singles (promotional radio copies) that are hard to find. And I have the original single on record for "Still the same/Feel like a Number" and 3 records "Night Moves" "The Distance" and "Against the wind" plus I have most of his albums on cassette. I have also downloaded most of his older out of print stuff like Brand New Morning (the song) and most of the album "Ramblin Gamblin Man" and I even have "East Side Story" and the radio version of "2+2" and a Bob Seger Tee i got at Louisville. That was probably my greatest Bob Seger memory besides the day that I got the cassette of "Greatest HIts" Most all of my greatest memories revolve around seger. I hope that when you turn 16 around and it makes 61 Bob Seger rocks better than ever...and he does! Maybe 10 years down the road he will be here in great condition and tour again. You never know! but either way this could be his last tour but Im glad I got to see my favorite artist and hero, Bob Seger.

I had grown up in the Waterford/Pontiac/Clarkston area and had seen Bob Seger at various local venues in the late '60's, and always enjoyed his shows immensely. By 1974, I was very early in my career as an automotive technician (on imported cars), working at a local shop, when in walks Bob Seger, wanting his 1965 Porsche 356SC repaired. My boss gave the job to me! It turned out that the car needed to have its engine overhauled, which job I completed. When I finished, Bob came to the shop to pick up the car, and I asked him if he would mind taking a ride in it with me so that I could show him how best to operate it. He leaped right into it with me while I drove him around the local area. We talked about mostly mechanical things related to his car. He was very personable, and I remember thinking that, 'Here is this guy who is a BIG local star (at that time) who is actually just a regular guy who does not seem to be full of himself at all.'
All this occurred on the eve of the Bachman-Turner Overdrive concert at Cobo Hall, for which Bob and his band were the opening show. I can remember thinking that it was only a matter of time before he became a major star.
The engine performed well, Bob thanked me for my good (he said) work, and he went on his way.
I have treasured this memory for all these years.

If memory serves me right, he opened up with 2 + 2 was on my mind. My friend was a roadie for Seger and I went to a few parties where either he lived or a band member lived in Northville. All I remember is the house was up on a hill, I know I’m showing my age. Anyways, had many a great time…Thanks Bob.

I went to see Bachman Turner Overdrive with some friends back in late '74 or early '75. The concert was at Bowen Field House at Eastern Michigan University. We were all stoked to see BTO. Well, it turned out that Bob Seger was the opening act for BTO. I really didn't know much of him too well, but man, he stole the show that night. I remember Bob rocking out to Ramblin, Gamblin Man amongst other songs and his energy level was really high. He had the place rocking! Then, BTO came out to perform. While we liked their music a lot, they kinda just stood there and played the songs. It was a bit of a letdown after Bob's performance!

name a few. IT WAS AWESOME, something I will never forget and have reflected back on over the years.Too top it off I landed a job at the oakland mall about a week later. I've been a huge fan of BOBS ever since. KEEP on

It was 1978 and Bob Seger was being Sewed for Breach of Contract somewhere. I was working at Macomb County Friend of the Court at the time. It was an open court room and the court room was filled with fans, standing room only. I went down to the court room on my break and was watching some of it. I had this Saint Christopher's metal necklace and gave it to his Manager to give to Bob Seger that day, and told him it was for good luck. Later on that day after court and work there was me and this other kid in the hallway, just waiting for Mr. Seger to come out. We were at the right place at the right time because he came out the door and I asked him in fact the exact words were, "Mr. Seger can I please have your autograph" and he said, "sure". And he let us take his picture with him. I also mentioned that I was the one that gave your manager the St. Christopher's metal. We got our pictures taken with him and got his autograph. I still have the pictures. I carry the one picture around with me all the time. I have since it happened. I have since lost the autograph but the picture will never be lost. It was the best day of my life. Later on that year I even got to see him in concert for the first time and only time ever. It was the greatest!

My first concert that I attended was when I was a freshman in college at MSU and we had a small venue on campus near Fee and Akers Hall which probably doesn’t even exist any longer. Bob Seger was the talent and it cost us $.50 and boy did we get our money’s worth. He was great then and he’s still great today.

AS A STUDENT ATTENDING OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AUBURN HILLS IN 1969, WE WERE ALWAYS TRYING TO PROMOTE STUDENT ACTIVITIES. THE TASK OF HIRING A BAND WAS GIVEN TO ME FOR A DANCE TO BE HELD IN THE PARKING LOT. WE DIDN'T HAVE LARGE ROOMS BECAUSE THE CAMPUS WAS A OLD NIKE BASE. THERE WAS A BAND THAT HAD A COUPLE OF RECORDS BEING PLAYED ON THE LOCAL RADIO STATIONS LIKE, "HEAVY MUSIC" AND "RAMBLIN, GAMBLIN MAN". I CONTACTED THE MUSICIAN, BOB SEGAR, AND HE AGREED TO BRING THE BAND FOR THE EVENING, EVEN AFTER I TOLD HIM THAT THE MONEY ALLOTTED WOULD BE $50.00.
BOB SEGAR BROUGHT HIS BAND THAT COLD EVENING AND THE EVENT WAS WELL ATTENDED AND A SUCCESS. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE KINDNESS HE EXTENDED TO ME. HE WILL PROBALLY NOT REMEMBER, BUT, ROCK AND ROLL NEVER FORGETS. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO REMINISCE.

It was the fall of 1969 when we went to see Bob Seger at the Henry Ford Community College Battle of the bands. He was unable to perform some of his biggest hits at the time like 2+2 and East side story because someone in the band had forgotten to pack an organ when loading to do the gig. Also one of the other bands caused the night to end early. It was Iggy Pop from the Stooges, when he busted a beer or wine bottle with a microphone and secuirty shut down the rest of the show. It turns out the one gal who sued them went to my high school Bishop Borgess in Redford I found out a few years later. Man what a night.

I have a Seger memory that occured on April 27, 1989. The day marked my 31st birthday and my husband had taken me to The Whitney restaurant in Downtown Detroit to celebrate. We had finished dinner when by husband pointed out Bob Segar having dinner at a table across the room. I said to my husband, "Jeff I want to go over there and tell him 'sweet 16 had turned 31' and ask him for his autograph." My husband said leave the guy alone, he's having dinner and probably doesn't want to be bothered. Well, I didn't bother him, but whenever I think back on the experience, I wish I had. I've been a big Seger fan for years -- I still have my old 45s - Heavy Music, Lucifer and Noah - not to mention a huge collection of albums and CDs. Thanks for the opportunity to share a memory.

I can't remember the exact year but it must've been '73 or '74. A triple bill at the St. Clair Shores Civic Arena, where the most exciting thing prior to this could've been a meeting of two pee wee hockey teams with fathers screamng for blood. Well, they were screaming for blood on this night, but it was for the blood of Iggy Pop. Iggy headlined a wild triple bill with the Motor City Mutants opening, followed by Bob Seger (I think it was his back in 72 band) and then Iggy.

It began innocently enough with a great set by the Mutants who rocked the crowd and set up what was intended to be a memorable night. Seger took the stage witrh a band that was in between his great band of the 60's and what was his most commercial band in the late 70's and 80's. The crowd became restless and shouted and screamed for Iggy. Seger was lucky to make it through the set without incident. Iggy was not so fortunate. The same folks who shouted for Ig proceded to boo and hiss and throw objects at their idol as he muddled his way through a sloppy, disoriented set, trading obscenities with the delirious crowd. I was almost happy, as a green 16 year old, to see it end.

Normally, we would see a triple bill set up with a decent opener, a better secnd act, and a killer headliner. This night turned out to be the total opposite. The Mutants stole the show as things slowly degenerated into the night. An early but memorable concert experience for me.

The first paid concert I ever went to was Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1996. I was 15 years old and it was the first concert at the Silverdome after being built. The sound was awful because no one knew that with such a large space the acoustics would be so bad. It was after all the complaints that the Silverdome folks split the stadium for concerts with that giant back-wall behind the stages.

Even though the sound was not great, we all had a great time.

My Seger story goes like this. The last time he toured I bought tickets for one of my workers my business partner and myself plus all of our wives. We stayed close to the palace over night in a real nice Motel. That day we where all getting ready to go over to the concert I was sure it was the band standing in the hall. Then I noticed Alto and punch. I did not approach them as they where all getting ready to go into the limos and head over. Months later in Tobermory Ontario Canada I was in a bar called the Crowsnest and in walks Bob and a few other guys. At first no one even said any thing as the bar was packed and the blues band was playing. They headed out and I said to my friend that guy looked like Seger. He said yes sort of but to rough looking. We also headed out to the bar called the Hilltop and when I walked in it was Seger playing pool. The Olympics was on at the time and Johnson I believe had set a record because Bob kept going over to watch the TV. When I approached him one of the guys says "Bob watch your back" like I was going to hurt him or something. I told him I saw his show a few months back and told him I was from Windsor and remember when he played the local circuit. I then went to the car and got the tape Night Moves and he signed it for me. It was months later that you can check and you will see he crashed his car up north in Canada. I went to Van Andel to see him for my birthday Nov 12-06 from tickets I got on eBay. I am going again Dec30th and got good seats again from eBay. I did see him when I was 17 at Cobo.

OMG! I used to go see Seger all the time at the Hideout in Harper Woods. I was like 13 – it was even before he recorded anything. It was great. Those were the days of the Scott Richard Case and later The Strawberry Alarm Clock too. What a blast. Soon thereafter I headed on over to the Grande and then the Eastown.

I said Hi to Bob about 10-15 years ago at Ridley’s comedy club and reminded him about the days at the Hideout. He put his hands over his face and shook his head and we both laughed and said “man, we’re getting’ old”. What a nice, down to earth guy.

That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it ;-)

Back in the 1960's a friend of mine named Carl was a guitar player in a band and they played at the 300 Bowl in the Pontiac/Waterford area.
I remember myself and some of my biker buddies went to go see them play.
It turned out to be Bob Seger and his first band. What can I say, they knocked our socks off!
On a break Seger borrowed my leather jacket and chrome German helmet and in their next set did a Beatle's rendition of Baby You Can Drive My Car but changed the lyrics to Baby You Can Drive My Tank. I'll never forget it! What a riot we used to have then!
Back then my sister in-law was involved with the American Leukemia Foundation and would have young kids go door to door collecting money and pledges for the foundation.
To make a long story short my sis in-law wanted to do something nice in return for the kids who did the collecting. She asked if it was possible to get Seger and his band to do a show at Cobo Hall.
Seger's first album was doing well in the Detroit area and I thought it would be a good thing for Bob and his band.
The show took place and the national media picked up on it. What can I say, once the rest of country got a taste of this hard core Detroit style Rock n Roll done by Bob Seger they couldnt get enough.
Then came the Silver Bullet Band and Bob's lyrics that could touch our very heart and soul, by letting you know he has been down a very heartfelt road himself.
So if you want to dance, smile, cry or tap your foot, just fire up some Seger and let it roll.
Thanks for the opportunity to smile at the good old days and remember a great old friend I havent seen in years

Where did I see Seger growing up? Thanks for asking. It seems like where didn't I see him!! In the late 60's and early 70's, I danced my butt off to Ivory, Two Plus Two, and Tales of Lucy Blue at Notre Dame HS in Harper Woods, at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, and at the Grosse Pointe South HS North/South Dance after the big rivalry football game! The Bob Seger System was the hero band of the East Side in those days, even for those of us just a little too young to get into the Hideout!! Great Memories.

And - I still wear the T-shirt from the Cobo Hall concert I was lucky enough to see from the Mayor's suite in 1978 or 1979. Doesn't get any better than that when you're 23 years old!!

I got to see Bob a couple of times at the Hideout in Harper Woods 66-67, I think. His band was the "Last Heard" and he had this Eric Burden look going. On that stage we were probobly ten feet from each other. Pre-mosh pit, we stood around politely I think. Later I was DJing for a local church teen club having dances every month. I had finally got enough of a budget to hire one of those expensive $200 a night bands and Bob was on the top of the list. Then "underdog", remember them? came out with "Man in the Glass" and the club went with them. Who knew? I think Bob would have given a better performance, at least a longer one. I left for the service after that. It all seems long ago. I'm glad he's done so well over the years. I guess we all have....

Well Seger memories, there have been a ton since I consider myself one of his biggest fans. The first time I saw him I was 16, it was at Cobo June 1980 I still have the ticket stub. My cousin was 8 months pregant with her second son so my Mom and Dad thought my sister and I would be safe with her, after all how much trouble could she get into Right??? She was 18 years older and had gotten to see Seger all around Downriver when he first started out playing. I never knew my cousin was soooo cool. Well to this day that son loves to JAM after being bounced all around for a whole concert. Thank God she didn't go into labor. Other memories were introducing my nephews and niece to Seger music. The niece is in Arizona and is four years old. I had sent Bob's latest cd to her brother and now every time she gets into the truck she yells out "Mommy put Bob Seeeger on he is cute". The most recent was blowing off work for the opening concert in Grand Rapids with my sister in law, getting a room, and getting to the Arena early just in time to score 4th row main floor seats. We walked out the door to celebrate and sold the tickets to some guy and got beers at the bar across the street while we called everyone we knew screaming like 12 year olds because we had gotten those seats. That show was incredible, Bob looked great, sounded great and was having soooo much fun, he just couldn't stop smiling. Then the following concert in Grand Rapids I took my middle nephew who is 18 and has been raised on Seger and we sat near the stage also. It was the best to see Seger and have my nephew sing along with his lighter in his hand to Turn the Page. I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT. Bob Seger is an amazing performer, writer and a Michigan legend we are all blessed by his music and soulful story telling.

I had just moved to Florida (Hollywood), the year before, from Michigan. It was 1974 and I was 17. my Meeeechigan buddies (whom I still see often), came down to visit during spring break. (CAN YOU IMAGINE PARENTS THESE DAYS ALLOWING THEIR KIDS TO DRIVE THAT FAR?) As it were, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent and Cactus were playing at the Highway Drive In, in Fort Lauderdale, during the same time they were to be down. So of course we had to go (being Meeeechigan boys). Since we knew of these bands and because the tickets were General Admission, we decided to get there early, so as to get next to the stage. When we arrived (2 hours early @5:30pm), the place was a virtual ghost town. The token Hollywood tumbleweed rolled over the parking lot (not really!!). The gig was billed "THE BATTLE OF THE GUITARS."
Bob Seger was the opening act with the Nuge next and Mike Pinera and Cactus last. Then Ted Nugent and Mike Pinera dueled with their axes, in an effort to break the giant glass ball set up on stage. It took them awhile but they finally succeeded. The odd part of this entire evening was Bob Seger opened and was head and shoulders the best part of the show and he didn't even headline.
Needless to say my hearing hasn't quite been the same since. One of the reasons I remember the night so vividly is that we didn't partake in any of the intoxicants which surrounded us. My girlfriend at the time (she later became my wife) still reminds me what a great time she had. We are still married and enjoy Bob's music. We've seen him since but you know the old saying, "You never forget the first time." My ticket stub is my scrap book of concerts, pristine and crisp, as that cool Spring night.

Thanks for reading.

I couldn't help but write to you in respect to Seger. It has been I think 32 years since I have seen him. I recall it was my brother Bobs 13th birthday and the big group at the time was Bachman -Turner-Overdrive. BTO had just released Not Fragile and all I heard every night while I drifted off to sleep was, You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet. My brothers birthday wish was to see BTO in concert. I had not been to a rock show yet but I found myself in the company of my parents, brother, and little sister attending the BTO show at Cobo Hall. I remember thinking years later, "that would never happen again!!! I recall asking my Mom why the man at the door had to look in her purse, she said they were looking for "grass". I think I wondered why anyone would bring lawn clippings to the concert?? Well I thought we were there to see BTO, but to my surprise there was another band, my father explained they were the opening act. Of course the opening act being Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band. We sat off to the right five or so rows up on the riser, they were great seats, I recall it being really loud. I also recall being mesmerized by the band, and thought, that would be a great job I want to do that when I grow up.

Well Bob and the boys put on a great show, I am able to recall most of it because I was not into "lawn-clippings" then. Also I recall thinking once BTO came out, I wished the other band would come back out. Nothing against BTO it was a great show, but I just prefered the first band whom I had never heard of before. Doug, the ironic part is years later, I was playing in a band in Detroit called Midnight Cafe, and we were afforded the opportunity to open for Burton Cummings at Harpo's, and of course Randy Bachman was on guitar that night. I remember wanted to tell him I saw him when BTO was really big, but then reconsidered feeling I might slip and let the cat out of the bag and tell him I preferred Bob!!!
Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! I was kinda hoping to see him again, every time he has toured since for one reason or another I haven't been able to attend. The nights I could have gone this tour are sold out, and I'm working the others, but I have a feeling Bob will be around for a while so I'm not worried!!

I was 16 the last time he was here. My bestfriend / neighbor Michael's mom & stepdad took all of our "click", that wanted to go. His stepdad Paul got us a limo!! Sweet!!! We were BIG SHOTS! Anyway, we had to drop off Mikes little sister @ grannies house. We were going down Grand River (east) almost to Novi Rd., about 100 feet before the bridge that goes over the RR tracks & we ran out of gas! Amy (the little sister) was going crazy. We coasted up the hill and back down, right into the gas station!! We were all amazed! We made it. Dropped off Amy, met the limo & we all had the time of our lives! 2 of the coolest adults & 5 teenagers. I can't even remember what time we got home. I do remember that it was the best concert I've ever been to. Now I'm 35, been to tons of concerts & it will always be the best! Love you Bob!

My Bob Seger Story. It was the Spring of 1980 when I scored some much sought after Bob Seger tickets. The venue was Cobo Hall. One thing I always admired about Bob Seger, other than his music, was he always thought of the fans. Concert tickets were beginning to approach $30 to $40. Bob Seger, however, felt that it was important that the fans did not have to pay "through the nose" to attend his concert so his tickets were moderately priced at $15.00.

The seats I had were in tier B. Certainly not good enough for me but how was I going to get closer? Regardless of how much I paid I would not be satisfied until I was standing front row. So myself and this buddy of mine stood at the top of tier
A trying to figure what to do. I began tapping people on the shoulder saying "excuse me". Believe it or not everyone in Tier A moved aside so we could hop over their chair. One row at a time we worked our way down to the first row and hopped over the wall to the floor. No sooner did we hit the floor when security grabbed both of us and sent us off the floor and up the stairs. But were we done? Of course not. We walked around the stadium and did the exact same thing on the opposite side. This time when we hit the floor the security grabbed this buddy of mine but not me. As you know during a concert is everyone for him self.

So there I was on the floor and weaseling myself little by little towards the stage. Finally I made it to the front row and to my surprise, dead center of the stage was and empty chair. So what could I do? I stood on the chair and I swore Bob shaded his eyes from the light so he could see me.
Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This goes way back! It was the late 60's. I was working as a stage prep man for a rock group at that time known as "The Deadwood Stage" a local group that was headed for great things. They really had charisma. There drummer sadly was killed in a motor vehicle accident and the band ceased to be. Anyway, getting to Seger. Bob and his boys had a gig at what used to be the Silver Bell Saloon (I believe that was the name) out near Lake Orion. "The Deadwood Stage" was the lead-in band. When the flyers came out for the upcoming event low and behold there in big bold letters was "The Deadwood Stage" and also appearing in fine print (Ha, ha) was "The Bob Seger System". Needless to say Bob was not a happy camper. All in all it was a great time for all. Bob really rocked the house. Great memories, great fun!

AS A STUDEN'T AT OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AUBURN HILLS IN 1969, WE WERE ALWAYS TRYING TO PROMOTE STUDENT ACTIVITIES.

IT WAS MY TASK TO HIRE THE BAND FOR A DANCE TO BE HELD IN THE PARKING LOT. WE DIDN'T HAVE LARGE ROOMS BECAUSE THE CAMPUS WAS AN OLD 'NIKE BASE'.

THERE WAS A BAND TAHT HAD A COUPLE OF RECORDS BEING PLAYED ON THE LOCAL RADIO STATIONS LIKE "HEAVY MUSIC" AND "RAMBLIN, GAMBLIN MAN".

I CONTACTED THE MUSICIAN, BOB SEGER AND HE AGREED TO BRING THE BAND FOR THE EVENING EVEN AFTER I TOLD HIM THAT THE MONEY ALLOTTED WOULD BE $50.00.

BOB SEGER BROUGHT HIS BAND THAT COLD EVENING AND THE EVENT WAS WELL ATTENDED AND A SUCCESS.

I WILL NEVER FORGET THE KINDNESS HE EXTENDED TO ME. HE WILL PROBALLY NOT REMEMBER, BUT, "ROCK AND ROLL NEVER FORGETS".

THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO REMINISCE.

Hello, My name is Diana Staggs I lived in Pontiac for 30 years, first seen Bob Seger at Pine knob in the 80's And have always loved his music . I now live in Kentucky, and got to go see Seger again. He was at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston West Virigna thats about 2 hours from where I live.I went with my daughter she got us tickets our sets were center but up in high level ,Well when we got their a local rock radio station was in the parking lot giving away tickets 105 the rock, they asked a trivia question and whoever answered it won 2 front roll seat for the concert,Now she knows her Seger. The first person didn't know the answers. she was next in line and do you know she answered the question before he got it out ,witch was what was the name of Segers band before the The Silver Bullet Band she stunned him by answering so fast . BUTT in order to get the tickets she had to let them write the radio station 105 the Rock on her forehead with a black sharpie pen . she was all for that ,she said they could have wrote it on her back side .she was so happy she said if I never win anything again in my whole life I will be happy because she has always dreamed of having front roll seats to see bob Seger.I sure did enjoy the show she cryed through most of it for she was so happy.,and Iwas happy for her .So on the way home from the show this big 18 wheeler truck passed us on I64 and it was the truck carrying Segers stuff all over the side and back was Bob Seger on his bike , we were so excited .we really enjoyed ourself that nite and Seger sounded better than he did 10 years ago . thats a memory That we will never forget. BOB SEGER FOREVER.

1971, I was 13 at the Davisburg 4-H center (not sure its called that anymore) it was a Battle of the Bands or something like that. I was sitting on a table watching the people enter. Seger sat down on the table and I listened to his review of the bands with his buddies. I remember adoring his long dark hair! No, I wasn't a screamer type, but then Seger wasn't the star we know & love now - only a young man with big dreams! Damn who'd a known, ah well I was too young for him anyway! (heeeee)

I was only so lucky to have the memory because my big brother was playing that night too.

My sister Anne was very terminally ill with Multiple Sclerosis. She was a huge fan of Bob Seger, so much so that she named her dog Seger. I know Charlie Allen Martin, the drummer on Seger's Live Bullet. He is now in a wheelchair from an accident. I told him about my sister and he said he would like to visit her at the care facility where she lived. When he showed up, Anne didn't know he was coming. She was listening to her favorite CD, Live Bullet, when Charlie wheeled in. He spent a long time talking to her, she was thrilled. At the same time I spoke to Bill Blackwell, Bob Seger (& Kid Rock's) road manager. He said he would do something. I called Anne and told her. On 3-24-04, I received a call from the family. My sister had just died. I went to the care facility, Anne was still warm. Just then I received a call from Bill. He was at the facility but could not find me. I told him I would meet him outside. When he showed up I told him she had just died. Her children, Jackie and Mike were there and he came in bearing gifts, a CD, T-shirt, and a picture signed by Bob Seger on his way to NY to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bill visited a while then asked me how to get The Palace for the Kid Rock show he was working, then left. I have never properly thanked them. So THANK YOU, Charlie, Bill and Bob.

Back in '75
I met Bob Seger in the spring of 1975. The East Detroit High School's Shamrock Broadcasting Club, sponsored a concert in our gym to raise money for our own "radio station". It was fun promoting it within the school district. I remember going to the MCC campus and making posters and promoting it to my friends.
My job, as the President of the club, at the show was to collect the tickets at the door. Tickets were $3.50 & $4.50. (The cheap seats were in the balcony.) I was at the door when Bob walked in and introduced me to his "friend" Jan. I escorted him to the girls locker room. He prepped and got dressed for the show there.
My job during the show was to shine a flashlight on the smokers in the gym. I found a lot of interesting combustibles during the clean up:) The show was not able to be advertised on WWWW or WABX due to contract stipulations. The show needless to say was not a sellout and our club lost about $1400 I recall. A few months later, 2 to be exact, "Live Bullet" was recorded at Cobo Hall.
We were just a couple months late.
We followed up the next year with a band called "Blackfoot" and lost more money. Sure glad I graduated in 1976!

In 1992 working for GM Engineering in Product Development Bob's song "Like a Rock" took on a new meaning for the full size pick-up. He attended that presentation before they rolled it out to the public. My co-workers couldn't believe my friends and I were dancing to his music as teenagers and there again the second time around

I saw Bob Seger on my 20th birthday in the old Jacksonville Coliseum. What I remember most, indeed what impressed me most at the time, was the quality of the sound. We were sitting in the very last row, up against the wall, and it sounded like the band was performing just for us. It was a first class show and a memorable rock and roll experience.

The first time I saw Bob Seger, I was 5 days past due with my first child. While I was getting ready to go to the concert, my husband asked where I was going. "To Seger with you guys" I said. He went on to tell me I was crazy, I was pregnant and I wasn't going. Well I won, and I went. So, there I was 9 months, 5 days pregnant, big as a house, sitting in tier 1, front row while Bob was singing Turn the Page. The lights went dark all over Cobo, and the Sax player started his incredible solo SOMEWHERE in the stands. When the spot light hit him, he was right next to us, 2 seats away in the isle, just blasting that sax. How cool is that? That was 26 years ago and my daughter credits that concert on her love for Seger. Thanks for the memory !!!

Hey, my name is Bill, and I have a Bob Seger memory for you. The year was 1975 and the place,... Cheboygan! That's right, way up in northern Michigan, and Bob was coming to town to play at our high school. Can't remember the exact time of year, but it was warm and it was a Saturday. Anyway, my friend Rob and I were cruising up and down Main street, as usual on a day off from work and out of school, and we were talking about the show. Neither of us were planning on going, as we had no idea who Bob Seger was, all we knew was that he was from D-town (and anything from Detroit was suspect) and the only thing we had ever heard from him was a song off a compilation "8-track" (smoking OP's?). But our girlfriends were going, and our plan was to meet up with them after the concert. So there we were driving up and down main in Rob's big purple Impala when who do we see hitchhicking?
Bob!!! We know it's Seger by how he's dressed; cowboy hat and boots, real long hair, huge moustache and beard, western style shirt and vest, and bluejeans, and kinda skinny. Definitely not from around Cheboygan. "It's Bob" we exclaimed, and pulled over to pick him up. "Hey, I'm Bob Seger", he said, "could you give me a ride to my motel?" We said sure, and let him the front seat. As we drive along, he proceeds to tell us about the show that night, and that if we're up for it, we should go over to the high school, help set up and we would get in free, then afterwards there would be this party back at the motel (the Continental) and we were invited!
Well, we drop him off after many thank you's and high five's and see y'all laters, and as we're leaving the parking lot, Rob and I look at each other and go, "naw!"
So, we don't go the the concert, but later, when we catch up with our dates, we find out what we missed. Apparently, all did not go well with the show that night, only about 60 people attended, and most of them weren't very interested in the performance, talking and laughing throughout. About halfway thru Bob had enough, he threw down his guitar, swore at the audience and said he would never come back to this bleeping town again. Even later we heard that he and his entrourage destroyed their motel room, got busted by the cops and run out of Cheboygan! That's my memory of Bob Seger, but I'm happy to say he did come back to northern Mich, and even performed at Castle Farms. Rock on, Bob!

My fondest memories of Bob Seger, was back in 1975 (the year I graduated)and he was playing in our high school gym!!(Can you just imagine?!) Anyway, as the love of my life (back then anyways)and I waited patiently to get inside, somebody bumped into me, and said excuse me. I didn't pay any attention to him, until he had already passed, and of course it was yours truly Bob Seger himself. Long hair, good looks, brown suede jacket (with fringes)I just about died and went to heaven! I have seen Seger now over the years about 7 or 8 times both here and in Florida. I am soooo glad he is back, I've missed him. I NEED TICKETS..I'm sure he'll remember bumping into me lol. Rock on Bob!!!

Also hanging out with Punch who is also a very nice man. I have so many memories from my hay days. I wish now I could of bottled it up and kept it to enjoy again. I am so happy to be able to see Bob and Chris and Alto and the rest of the band back on stage.

My name is Ray, I am a drummer, and I have been a big Bob Seger fan forever.  I've been in bands since I was about 15, and we used to try to play Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, but of course, nobody in the band could sing it like Seger.
I saw "Bob Seger and the Last Herd" play at a little place between Pontiac and Lake Orion, called the Silver Bell ski lodge when I was still in high school (Lake Orion).  It must have been 1968 or 1969.  The place only held a couple hundred people, but it was not like a small gig.  The place was packed and Seger rocked that place.
I also saw him play one time at another place near Lake Orion, in what must have been a county maintenance building.  You know, like a round roof quonset hut, with dirt floors.  They had plywood down on the dirt floor for a stage, and I remember how dusty it was in there with everybody walking around, and thought how hard it must be for Bob to sing in there.  That was the first time I saw his drummer, Pep Perrine, playing his full set along with two bass drums suspended on his left and right.  They had big tubes on them that curved and pointed into the audience to direct the sound out front, kind of like the bell of a tuba,  That was awesome watching him play all those drums.  Very unique and interesting.  I've never seen another drummer do that.
Later after high school, I was in another band.  We practiced right next door to where Seger lived in Waterford, Michigan.  He didn't seem to be home very often, because he was always out touring around.  My bass player was "Turk" (Jem Targal), and he had actually played with Drew Abbot in a band sometime earlier, and he knew Pep Perrine too.  Turk had a couple of extra bass drums, so we roped them up to the rafters in his basement, and I played them.  I didn't know it at the moment, but as I was playing a drum solo in Turk's basement, he was outside talking to Bob.  Turk told me later that Seger said, "Hey, your drummer sounds pretty good down there.".  That always made me feel really good that he said that.
Also, one time we walked down to the party store a block away from Turk's house, and ran into Bob there.  I was so in awe, I couldn't hardly say anything.  I think I stammered something about seeing him in concert recently, and I thought he was really good.  Luckily, Turk took care of the conversation, and Seger told us he had just been in the studio working on a new album.  I thought he said it was called "Knife Moves", and I thought that was a pretty weird, violent type of title.  Of course I found out a few weeks later, when it came out, that it was called "Night Moves", a much better name for the song, and what a great song it was.  One of my favorites.
My girl friend, Gayle (who has been my wife for going on 30 years), and I were at Cobo Arena for the "Live Bullet" taping.  What a wonderful night that was.  It was like Seger had been out traveling around, and was so glad to get back to his home ground.  I remember the stage was all done in white carpet, and Seger came out in a black tux ... Pretty classy!  What an awesome singer and entertainer he is.  He always got the crowd going.
I just want to say to Bob Seger and the whole band, thank you very much!   Thanks for all the music and all the good times and all the good, fun memories.  Thanks!

I was twelve in 1966 the year that My Brother Graduated High School. He wanted to go to a graduation party . The only catch was my folks were
going out of town and he had to watch me. Bob Seger and the Bob Seger System were the entertainment. My brother fought hard but the deal was if he went I went. So thanks to my brother I got to see Bob Seger outside at a graduation party in june of 1966. I remember him doing 2 + 2 is on my mind. That was my first Live Rock and Roll Experience

My senior year at Birmingham Seaholm High School I was 16 years old and working at the Birmingham/Bloomfield Teen Center (aka:The Village Pub). Bob Seger System played there one night. Before I had only heard Bob Seger on the radio. That night I saw him perform in person. Bob Seger was about 24 years old with long black hair, side burns and wearing bell bottoms. As I remember some of the songs he played were: Ramblin" Gamblin" Man, 2+2 and Tales of Lucy Blue. He was our hero. He seemed to play songs that were relevant and what we were all feeling at the time. As I recall he played at our teen center more than one time. What amazes me is how Bob Seger resurfaced in the mid 1970's and he is still going strong today. Thank you for asking for input and the trip down memory lane.

I'll try and keep this as PG as possible. It was the summer of 72  but I remember it like it was yesterday. I took my date Maryann to a free concert on Belle Isle sponsored by WABX. When we got there we found out it was The Bob Seger System. We laid out our blanket and opened up our bottle of Boonesfarm Strawberry Hills wine and one thing lead to another and we become tangled in our blanket and I became a man that day while Bob sang "Heavy Music"!!!!! Thanks Bob, I owe ya one!!!!

Back in 1985 I was taking a clay-modeling class at C.C.S. in Detroit. A guy in the class said he worked at ticket-master, and could get me the best seats ever for the Bob Seger concert, at the lowest price. My husband and I arrived, and the guard pointed to our seats (the farthest and highest away from the stage) I decided at that moment to find a seat close to the stage, and pray no one had paid for our close to the stage seats. It was one of the best days of my life. I'll never forget it. When Seger came over to the edge of the stage I could have reached out my hand and touched his. I was so excited I never sat down. This year, to get the same seats as those, we paid over $500. And I already know, they will be well worth it. Bob Seger's concerts are awesome!!!

I have a fantastic but very fuzzy memory of seeing Bob Seger perform in a barn in the Ann Arbor area in August 1974. My friend Judy and I were EMU students at the time.  We heard about the free concert in the barn and with a bottle of Jose Cuervo  Gold in hand we found our way to a barn in the countryside.  It was a wonderful summer evening.  We parked in a field and followed the sound of the music.  Bob Seger and band were set up in the loft.  The massive barn doors were wide open at both ends of the barn. Seger fans were roaming in and out and dancing. Everyone was having fun.  The music was great. People were friendly.  It seems like there was beer and food.  In those days you could go to a concert and never experience violence or crime. This was before "Night Moves" back when the band was called "The Bob Seger System" possibly.  But here is the fuzzy part. I don't know where we were. Maybe some of your readers will remember being at this concert and can tell us some more details. Thanks for collecting these Seger stories, I'm really looking forward to reading them.  But even better, I'm looking forward to seeing Bob Seger on Wednesday night at the Palace!!!!

MY MEMORIES OF SEGER GO WAY BACK...BACK IN 1968 OR 69..."YEA I LOST SOME BRAIN CELLS SINCE THEN" I WAS WHAT I CALLED AN "EQUIPMENT MANAGER" FOR A BAND IN MONROE CALLED THE ROMANS...TOM TREESE WAS THE LEAD SINGER . MY BEST FRIEND ALAN HILL WAS THE BASS PLAYER . THEY WERE PLAYING AT A NEW PLACE JUST OUTSIDE OF MONROE THAT THEIR MANAGER WAS TRYING TO GET STARTED BUT THE HOT SPOT IN MONROE WAS "THE CLUB". I WAS STANDING IN LINE AT THE CLUB WITH SOME GIRLS I HAD SEEN QUITE OFTEN WHEN THE ROMANS WERE PLAYING AND I ASKED THEM WHY THEY WERE THERE INSTEAD OF WATCHING THE ROMANS THEY HAD A STORY ABOUT DON SHANTEAU'S GIRLFRIEND BEING JEALOUS...THEN THEY ASKED WHAT I WAS DOING THERE... WELL I SAID I LOVED THE ROMANS BUT THIS IS BOB SEGER AND THE LAST HERD.....ENOUGH SAID .....IT WAS A GREAT SHOW EVEN BACK THEN...

Back in the day of DSR busses in Detroit, Hudson's had an annual event called "Fashion Bash", the first one being held downtown.  Bob Seger was there, wearing a red and black plaid flannel, pageboy do, and looking quite out-of-place.  Was he the musical guest???  Cannot get that cell to function - but I remember him being there.
The BEST Seger memory is, of course, when he opened for BTO - and we, the kind and considerate audience Detroit is known for, didn't care for the headliner band at all.....just wanted Bob.  The boys then had a show at the Michigan Palace (Leslie West chastized the audience for rowdiness, announcing our behavior was the reason "class acts like Linda Ronstat" refused to play Detroit" - and then, the infamous Live Bullet shows, both of which I attended at Cobo.
I'm very interested in finding out if Bob & the Last Heard played the Autorama - and Swingin' Time - there's a glimmer of a memory - but come on, it was the 60s!!!!
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.

POWELL, GREW UP WITH BOB AND THE ONLY LIVE MEMORIES, I HAVE, ARE OF LISTENING TO THE  BAND STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE SILVER BULLET LOUNGE AT 6 MILE ROAD AND TELEGRAPH.  I WASN'T OLD ENOUGH TO GET INSIDE, BUT IF I STOOD NEXT TO THE BUILDING I COULD HEAR AND FEEL THE MUSIC.  I LIVED A FEW HOUSES DOWN THE STREET, WOODBINE AVENUE, AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS ABUZZ WHEN BOB WAS AROUND.

Grew up with Detroit Rock and Roll in the Birmingham area with Bob Seger playing at sock hops, then at the hideout, teen center etc., along with all those great battle of the band events. Hung around with the guys from SRC and the Rationals. Favorite Bob memory was when I was dating a DJ from WKNR, Paul, we went on a double date with Bob Seger and ? I can't remember her name at the time, we met at the radio station and went to the East Town to see the WHO perform Tommy from start to finish. An unknown band at the time was the warm up - Alice Cooper - he was throwing live chickens into the audience - what a crazy night. After the concert we went to a Chinese Restaurant. My only brush with fame - Rock and Roll never forgets and neither will most of the kids from our generation. So glad to be a part of it. Patsy

Seger's music is great, but the man is even better! Someone I know lost her young husband, and father of her three young children, to a heart attack. She was having a hard time financially. Bob heard about it and gave her a rather large sum of money! He did not know her or her husband and has never met her. I have never met him, but have enjoyed his music, but respect the man even more.

I first saw Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in, I believe either October or November 1976 at the Lakeview Arena in Marquette, Michigan. I was in my second year at Michigan Tech and the buzz had started regarding this concert soon after we returned from summer break. Back then, if you wanted to see a concert in that area you had to travel to Marquette (100 miles from the MTU campus).

It was an absolutely awesome event, very similar in power and emotion to the two Springsteen shows I later saw in 1981 and 1984, the songs had that same magical hold over you. Seger and the band played the entire "Live Bullet" album (which they were touring to support), plus some rare, unheard material. I believe the ticket price was somewhere around $10 or $15! I feel very fortunate to have experienced concerts, in particular his, from that era, since the music had such relevance to our lives and situations at that time.

My Seger memories start at Aquinas H.S. in Southgate where he packed them in doing the oldies like Heavy Music, East Side Story, etc. I remember the drummer had two large toms mounted vertically about five feet high on each side where he would raise his arms upward and beat the toms. I think his name was Peppy or something like that. Seger rock and rolled back then. That must have been about 1969.

Saw him next at Eastern Michigan about 1972 when he and the Silver Bullet Band played warm up for BTO. I think everyone was there to see Seger.

I am trying to remember . I think it may be 1985 or 86 when Bob Segar came to The 'Knob'. I think he had 7 shows. After I got off work at Donelli's in Lake Orion around 12 pm . A couple of friends and I went to camp out in Pine Knob's parking lot. For 12 hours we talked, sang and discussed Segar. We never slept. We finally got 5th show tickets and enjoyed every second of that show. who wouldn't?

The year was ’75 or ’76, but I saw Mr. Seger at McMorran Auditorium in Port Huron backing up Ted Nugent. The most memorable part of the show came from Mr. Nugent, when at the end of his encore, he placed his Gibson guitar in its stand directly in front of a Marshall amplifier, at which point Ted got down on his knees and began bowing to the continuous feedback.

OH, ANOTHER THING, WHEN HE WAS PLAYING AT THE HURON BOWL, HE WORE A "PRINCTON HAIRCUT" (VERY CLEANCUT) ALWAYS IN A SUIT, NARROW LAPELS, AND SKINNY NECKTIES. We first seen BOB SEGER the summer of 1968 in SARNIA,Ontario Canada, across the river from Port Huron. My husband & I were 15 and he had been saving his allowance of $ 5.00 a week to get us tickets. The concert was at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 8:30 p/m, we stood right in the front row and he was fantastic. My husband thought his drummer was so cooool, with his drums surrounding his whole body and head. Until the music suddenly stopped and we were all ordered out of the building at once as there was a BOMB SCARE. I thought not now this only happens on TV, but it was the best 45 minutes of our lives and worth every penny. Thank you Bob Seger for a great night.

Ron_W,

March 1996, 1st Seger concert in many years. This girl I was dating off & on invited me to the concert. We were both huge fans, which we discovered our very first time alone together. Anyhow, I go to her house, she cooked me a steak dinner and a limo pulled up out front? We got to the concert, Bob came out on stage and I could see the twinkle in Jackie's eye as he started to play. I knew RIGHT THEN & THERE this was the girl I was marrying. I will remember that night forever. Here we are coming up on 11 years since that concert, 9 years of marriage and it's a GREAT LIFE! We went to two more Palace concerts and 3 Knob venues that summer. Seger music has been a huge part of our life, and always will be. PLEASE COME OUT THIS SUMMER BOB! Nothing better then a Seger outdoor concert.

My graduating class was in 1967. I attended both Madison High School in Madison Heights and Dondero High School in Royal Oak.
I remember when I first heard Bob Seger on the radio and told all my friends just how great he sounded. At that time, my peers were torn between the "Motown Sound" and "The Beatles."
I held onto my opinion that Bob Seger and his band were great, even though a lot of my friends didn't agree with me at the time.
I was born and raised in Michigan, except for a few years I lived in Florida. It was in Florida (about 1979, I think) that I saw my first live Bob Seger concert. Needless to say, he was GREAT!
Through the years I have bought all his albums and CDs. Since most of my friends claimed to be Motown or Beatles fans, I assumed my collection would be safe. It wasn't. All of them have vanished except for the five CDs I have now.
Bob Seger has always rocked my house and he will continue to do so for as long as I am alive.

My fondest memory of Bob Segar was in 1976 from a Concert given at Pontiac Silverdome. Some high school friends and I had tickets in the noise bleed section but managed our way to main floor where we all got seperated. I keep making my way to the front row where I met a young fella and asked if he wouldn't mind putting me up on his shoulders in order to get a better look at Bob Seger. After sizing me up, he decided I would be light enough and obliged. It was at that moment, looking straight into the eyes of Bob Seger, he sang "Beautiful Loser" it's been my favorite since.
Curently, I found an old record album titled "Noah" The Bob Seger System but can find no date. If there's anyone out there that knows I would apreciate the information.

My first Seger concert was the second Pine Knob show of the "Like a Rock" tour. Sitting 6th row for the first time, especially Seger was something I'll never forget.
Bob even invited Charlie Allen-Martin onstage to play "Betty Lou's Gettin'Out Tonite". Incredible.

I was lucky enough to score some tickets for the "Like a Rock" tour that came to Joe Louis Arena.

I've been blessed to see Bob Seger three times, the last was the Tour opener in 1996. Each concert was better than previous. I'm sure Saturday night at The Palace will be no different...only better!!!

I don't know what sucks you in first...the awsome songs...the voice you never forget..or the restless nature you relate to in every song...every one you think he wrote just for YOU. I've only seen him 3 times...the last on this tour in Indy but there will never be another Seger. I guess my best memory was back in the 80's I was at the Toledo Jam...can't to this day tell you who else played other then him! And then at the Market Sqare in Indy....when he did Shame On The Moon...he came to the edge of the stage ...sat down & sang....I thought I'd died and went to heaven! My best memories tho was a bar I managed in the 80's..I got to name it so it was called No Man's Land...and I had every 45 that was out of Seger's on the juke box. I was a little small town girl with a big dream....I wanted Mr Seger to walk in on opening night & sing No Man's Land...just to me of course!!! It never happened of course but Punch did send me an 8x10 pic which hung in the bar proudly! So many good times there....my friends thought I was Seger crazed..... His music has got me thru so many bad times since the early 70's...I lost my brother who was only 23....just recently the loss of my only sister to cancer...and now my husband who is only 53 is fighting the same kind of cancer that took my sister. So maybe these aren't "fond" memories but to me Seger is the one & only.....thank you Bob!!!!I hope to get to go to one more concert on this tour....Las Vegas...if all goes well.... I bet they know him now. LOL! There was nothing like driving thru the San Bernadino moutains listening to Live Bullet. Oh, the good old days. Seen him again in the 70's at Pine Knob. Bob, you rock!

Life in SE Michigan when I was in junior high and high school was Bob Seger and/or the Rationals. Weekend nights at the high school gym or at a local place that had live music. I remember it as a night in 1967 at a place called the CLUB in Monroe, Michigan. Now I think back and I am amazed that we were able to go to hear music and dance by our parents at a club. However, I am always so glad we were allowed to go; because that's when I first fell in love with Bob's music and his drummer with the arms of steel muscle. (Remember I was in junior high). At this point, I don't remember how often we saw Bob back then. I do treasure one moment in time. Everyone I know has heard the story. I am sure as I look back now that Bob didn't appreciate the event. The song that they were singing has long been lost from my memories. But the picture of Bob and the band on stage, him singing with his tambourine in hand is always in my memory. That night in all of the excitement, somehow the tambourine came out of his hand and into the crowd. It broke or became a bunch of pieces. Well, no matter where I 've been, traveled, lived that small bit of rock and roll/Bob trivia has gone with me. I took it with me to the Cobo concerts, Pine Knob, Cleveland with Frampton concerts. While I lived overseas, the small treasure was housed in a safe place. So here we are, Bob's music, his tambourine piece and me in 2007. Looking forward to rocking in Tampa....!

I grew up in Waterford and saw Bob in concert 3 times! Twice at Pine Knob and once at the Silverdome in Pontiac. I have his albums too. ALL the concerts were GREAT! I also have a memory of him when he lived in Waterford on Airport Rd. near Andersonville Rd. and I had heard he lived in the 2nd house from the intersection in an old white house. I was driving down Andersonville Rd. and I saw this guy with really long dark hair riding a super old bike coming from the little store carrying a little brown bag. I was pretty sure it was him and as I turned onto Airport Rd. he was riding his bike up his driveway. I pulled in his driveway at a normal speed, but he got all freaked out and jumped off his bike letting it fall onto his lawn as he ran inside his house! I was kinda shocked as I was just a young girl alone and not acting like I was after him! Next, his girlfriend (later to be his wife) came out and asked me "Can I help you and what do you want"? I asked her "wasn't that Bob Seger?" She said "yes it was." I said "well I'm sorry I scared him because I was only going to tell him that I just saw him in concert last night and how GREAT it was!" She said "I'll tell him." I thanked her and drove away. I thought that was kinda strange, but I guess he was worried about what I was going to do! I never got out of my car or anything. Anyway, I was glad I had seen him and then I knew for sure he lived there. Bob is one of the very BEST Rock-n-Roll singers of all time! Thanks for all the great concerts, songs, and fun times Bob! Rock on Bob and Michigan too!

The first time I saw Bob Seger in "person" was actually face to face when he came into the Sheriff Department that I was working for. He came in to apply for a concealed weapons permit. After obtaining all his credentials, I went into the other room and let out an excited scream that brought the shift sergeant into the room to check on me. It was quite an honor!

When i was around 10 or 11 years old i lived with my mom and my step dad off of Upper straights lake we rented a house that the owner were selling. One day the realestate person came up with a perspective buyer 2 see the house, now mind u my mother and i had been cleaning all day hair in a messy pony tail sweatpants the whole nine yards we looked great. NOT! Then we see this guy walk up in jean shorts and this crazy hawian style shirt. My mom said i think thats bob seger she went and got her old silver bullet live album and sure enogh it was. Then she tried and tried 2 get me 2 go out there 2 talk 2 him but i was 2 shy, and she refused because i think she was 2 shy. Come 2 find out a couple of weeks later he did buy a house on our lake right across from us. That is one of my few regrets, but Im not shy anymore!

Hello, i first saw Bob Seger up north in Michigan where our cabin is, in a little town called Skidway Lake, It's by Prescott and West Branch. He was playing in a big field on someones farm, it was awesome, you could walk right up to the stage and be about a foot away from him, i was only 19. A couple years later i was working in a medical building on Baldwin Road, in the pharmacy, the ear, nose and thoart specialist called and said he was sending someone special up to buy a humidifier, so i showed this guy with long hair and sunglasses the best one to buy and when i checked him out and got his meds i asked for his blue cross card and it said Robert Seger, then i became a nervous wreck. My boss let me keep the blue cross slip he signed. I have seen him several times in concert since and it's always great.

Michele again, i forgot to mention that i also worked with a girl name Dodie who played in Bob Segers band and she swore that Jodie Girl was written for her, don't know if thats true, i know that her husband was really was a band member though. One of my clients Sue married a school principle that was good friends with Bob and has been to her house in Oxford, MI several times. I'm so glad he stills lives in Michigan and still calls it his home.

Uncle Bob!!! I have so many great concert memories, particularly Cobo Hall's Live Bullet concert, Pine Knob, and will be adding a new one this Thursday night @ Madison Square Garden (1/25/07). I have also met youa couple times over the years, the most memorable being the time I helped transport your sailboat from Mackinaw Island back to the Detroit area after you raced her up the lake in one of the Port Huron-Mackinaw races. You define the word "gentleman" and at the same time are a great "salty dog". Hearing your music live or recorded takes me back to some great times in my life and I look forward to making new ones again this week

I saw Bob Seger on 01/13/07 in Tampa, FL and it was awesome. I wanted to go see him about 10 years ago in Indianapolis and my ex (the jerk) did not want to go. Well, this time I decided to just go by myself and I actually had a GREAT time.

The thing that I really like about Bob Seger is that he sounds the same live as he does on his CD's. Not at all like the bands of today, let me tell you. He puts them all to shame.

The first time I ever heard him was at a county fair in WI. The guy running one of the rides was playing "Sunspot" and I asked him who that was. I must have been about 14 or 15 and I have been a BIG fan ever since. Something so sexy and raw about his voice. Love it.

Thanks,

Pam

Wow, my first live encounter with Bob Seger had to be around 1967 or 1968, at a venue known as the Hideout at 8 mile and Harper, over on the east side. My friends and I had one of those 'garage bands' called the 'Spectrum' and were apparently good enough to be the warm-up band for Bob Seger and his band at the time. This venue was like a banquet hall, kind of like one that would be rented out for weddings, but every Friday there were teen dances and such.
I can remember that Bob Seger's organist's organ broke down that evening, and he had to use our band's organ. So we got a chance to stand around with Bob Seger and his band, we shook hands with all of them, 'rapped' (just meant talking in those days) with them.
I always kid about 'I haven't washed this hand since', but actually I have. I've always respected Bob Seger and what he has accomplished. He has certainly worked very hard to be where he is today. But with his talent, and all his hard work, it's no wonder that he is a legend.

Check this out: In the very early 70s while looking thru the Movie Guide, the Lincoln Park theatre was playing 'Gimme Shelter' AND they advertised after the movie Bob was playing right there on the theater stage...so out I went for a great night of watching the Stones and then, about an hour later, out comes Bob and his band and they played for about an hour+, belting out Heavy Music and 2+2 and other greats...Bob was sharply dressed in his Purpleish pants and his long hair, I was right up there by the stage and got some decent pix with my Kodak 110 camera! Great night..oh yeah, total cost of Gimme Shelter and an hour's worth of Bob - TWO DOLLARS!

Bob, I love him...
This was my fourth concert. This time, in Orlando. I grew up in Hazel Park, lived in Michigan most of my life, then moved to Orlando. I have been here 19 years. We saw Bob Seger to a sell out crowd in Orlando Arena...it was wonderful...I was amongst my fellow "Detroiters" and you know we all speak the same language. It was outstanding.
The crowd, the feel, the excitement and Bob Seger! A much younger crowd was in front of us and they knew all the words to the oldies and his new album...
What an incredible evening--
Almost as good as a show I saw at Pine Knob where Alto came swinging down from the ceiling of the pavilion playing his Sax.
Now that was a Seger Moment one rockn roller never forgets....

I grew up listening to Seger as a teenager in the sixties and caught him when his band was local to the Detroit area at such places as "The Silverbell" a ski resort near knobber when his band was known as "Bob Seger System" and on my favorite album from those early Seger days called "Ice Princess" his tune "Tales of Lucy Blue" was and still is my all time favorite next on my fave list is "Horizontal Bop". His popularity has got to span like 4 generations. Keep rockin Bob.

The Dec. 28th concert was the greatest, and since it was my final mountain I had to climb in life, made it all the better. But the best part was watching my sister who had a stroke a couple of years ago and lost some long term memory, retrieve some lost memory. She didn't remember who Bob Seger was when we went, she only went because she wanted to see me enjoy it, but as he sung some of his oldies, her eyes lit up and the look on her face was worth millions. Thank you Bob for giving me more than music, you gave me hope for life. Anita Little of Warren

My Oh my, many memories of seeing Bob in concert as well seeing him being just another one in the audience at a number of shows in Detroit.

The concerts are memorable:
- Bob opening up for Iggy Pop at the St.Clair Shores w/Catfish Hodge also on the bill in the early 70's. I distinctively remember the wall of music that hit me straight on and the Top Hat he wore.
-Rockin as a guest w/the Bruce over at the Crisler in "78. I kinda guess maybe Mitch would be the special surprise, but it was Bob and they did "Thunder Road" What a show.
-Early 80's Up around Bay City at an outdoor arena in the late afternoon. Rockets opened, Dave walked up on stage, had his bright red rock and roll stage threads on w/black sunglasses, his appearance and recent run in with the law defined "Rock Star", Bob and the Silver Bullet put on a great show, think that was the first opportunity to see the Silver Bullet, but by then their music was imprinted into the conscious as well as mom and apple pie.
-Went to a second show in '80, at Cobo, had money apparently in my pocket, remember it well, Bob’s tribute to Arthur: Baby! Think that was when Art was became an official Detroiter, thanks Bob!
- Can't forget Jerry Lubin debuting "Against the Wind" on his noontime show at WABX. Radio will never get better than that, just wonderful!
- Caught Bob at Joe Louis doing "The Distance" in "83. Good friend cooped us some 3rd row, she worked at a salon next to a ticketmaster and scored big! Thanks Dee Dee and we miss Dan, he left us way to early! Matter of fact both of you were also at the St. Clair Shores show with me.
This was the last time I saw Bob. Had that young guitarist, Dwayne? Always wondered him he had a gift.

-Can't forget the time I heard this loud crowd screaming for the Tigers back in "84. You know who I'm talking bout: Bob and the boys
just living it up, rootin on their home team.
-Then how bout that time Bob was in the audience to check out
his buddy Don Henley perform "End of the Innocence" at the Knob. I looked over and their Bob was just rockin like a rocker does!
-An the time, which even Bob says was one of the best concerts he ever attended. Bob's walking around the Palace with this guy who looked like a hippy, yet he had this cowboy mystique. I didn't think much about it, but halfway through the show Eric introduces a guest and it was Stevie Ray. Regretfully, one of the last times Stevie played before a crowd, glad Bob was able to spend quality time with such a gifted man. I'm sure it is a moment he time he cherishes.
-Can't forget my old neighbor Big Al, who worked for Barugga Bandit, Punch's other band. Now that guy had some primary source material about hangin with Bob. Chris and the boys, wonder how Big Al is doing these days?
Thank you Mr. Seger for all that you have given to Detroit and Rock and Roll. Now if I could only speak to you about a vision I have for a School of Music
that would compliment the campus of Oakland University so well. It would be a hell of a legacy to leave.
Be good, chow! Ken, Dryden M.

My sister Debbie got me hooked on his music. And she
went to every concert in Detroit and at Pine knob in
the 70's and 80's. No she was not at Cobo Arena in 74
for "Live Bullet"

My Mom wouldn't let me go to a concert with my sister
because dear mom did not want me around any of those
"Left handed cigarettes."

When my mom finally let me go, my cousin Johnny took
my ticket!!! I cried myself to sleep that night.

I finally got to see Bob in the summer of 86 and the
winter of 87. Thank you Matt and Tony for making that
happen. Deb was a little busy taking care of her
little ones and did not go.

Debbie saw Bob for the millionth time in 96. Without
me again!!!!

Finally it is going to happen. It took 30 years. But
Deb and I have a date set for March, at Cobo!!!! And this time, I promise not to touch a
"Left handed cigarette" and cousin Johnny is in Texas
and can not steal my ticket. I still love ya,
Johnny!!!

I am little older now. I am taking cough drops to the
concert so I can sing along to every song. I refuse to
take ear plugs. I am not that old!!!

Blue Dolphin Roller Rink, and one of his favorite restaurants across the street from Campus called Charbertz. I rememer Cindi introducing to me in 68 Mrs Charlotte Seger Bob's Mother at her home on Pauline Blvd.
I remember how she introduced me to Ted Nugent who probably at the time seventeen before ted hit it big.
Bob you still are the best. and thanks for your great concerts once more. I even started Bob Seger groups for you on yahoo.

If anyone wants to email me about Cindee they may do so at Angels4BobSeger@aol.com

Back to Bob Seger though.
He played places such as The Sugar Shack in Columbus, Ohio. He was co-owner also. He played in those early years also The Blue Dolphin
Roller Rink, Valleydale Ballroom,
The Lauche Building, The Agora
and high school dance also in Columbus, Ohio area. I have been to all of those places several times in Bob's earlier of his
Bob Seger System days and
Bob Seger and the Last Heard.
After all this time. Bob is still the best.

I can't remember the first time I heard a bob seger song. But the most vivid memory I have of bob's music was back in 1984 when I bought my first harley.Rideing it from the dealer in the rain because I couldn't wait another minute,I stopped at the local dive for a beer and a shot to celebtate my purchase. From the jukebox came two songs in a row.Turn the page and beautiful loser.I felt as though my whole life up untill that point had been defined.I know it sounds crazy but anyway there you have it.

I think it was at "The Waterford Bowl Lounge" in Waterford, Michigan. I had no idea at the time he would ever be the star and person that he has been by singing backup. After all it was just a "lounge act." Who knew!!!!!!!

I knew Bob from the Arena Gardens in Pt Huron way back in 1966/67. our band The Lime frost played warm up for him there. We were talking with him back stage one night about a "battle of the bands" we were entering. His words were, "there's a time to play and a time to party , play first!" Good advice, we beat out 500 bands state wide and won a spot on "Swingin Time with Robin Semor" (SP?) We appeared with Terry Knight (sans The Pack / Grand Funk ) and Todd Rungren and "The Nazz" who were on tour and playing the Grande Ballroom that night. What a blast!
I ran into Bob's wife Nita here in Florida (they have/had a place in Naples, ask her to say "hey" to Bob and that we had played some of the same venues; her reply "I'm not suprised he probably played every Highschool and roller rink in every town in Michigan!"
My favorite memory is getting backstage with Bob, the "Frut of The Loom" and Jimmy Hendrix at IMA in Flint....Thanks Bob..love ya.
brother, rock on.

I have seen Bob in many places over the years. The first time was my first ever concert in the parking lot at the Oakland Mall. I was also at the second (original) night of the Live Bullet concert and ended up against the stage.

I saw him at the Taylor Ice Arena in Taylor MI where a Hungarian band called "Locomotive GT" was the opening act. Numerous times in the East Lansing area.

Out here in Phoenix I just have not had much chance to see him anymore.

Still haven't seen him live, but everyone in MI seems to have some tie-in or recollection of Seger. When I was in high school there was a legend that he lived close by, but it was only about 25 years later that I found out, via a more obscure musician, that this had been true (even learned the house number, etc.),though as a kid, I had doubted it. Seger's early rock and roll and soul stuff is still incredibly hot, what a great MI natural resource he is. He deserves a commendation from our state government for all he's done.

It was about 1971 when my buddy Gary & I went to see The Bob Seger System at a local high school. We got there early and brought a reel to reel tape recoder which we set up at the front of the stage. Seger came out, took one look at it and told us we had to turn it off. Gary went over and flipped the switch off - then back on. Seger never noticed and we got a fairly decent recording which is still playable today. (we probably should transfer it to CD before the tape dries out and breaks!)

Growing up as a rocker in the Flint, MI. area it was often our pleasure to hear and see "SEGER" for just a few bucks. I saw him play at Sherwood Forrest in Davison during the late 60's, as well as Ted Nudent and too many bands from Detroit to name. Great times all. Close up to the players and open air concerts with a lake for skinny dippers right there. (not that I would ever have done anything like THAT...) Loud and proud rock and roll. A few years later he would come to Genesee and play at the Mikatam Lounge, early 70's. He would mix in with the crowd before it was time for him to perform, just taking it all in. I think he used to get a kick out of hanging out with folks and just being Bob. He was a real person who wasn't all caught up in being a "star". He just loved to kick ass with "Heavy Music" or any of the other rock and roll standards we here sometimes under-appreciated, just because we were able to see him so often. Being at Pine Knob and seeing he shows there in the 70's there or at Cobo for the live album gave us a new perspective. Helped us realize the we were in the presence of greatness and that the world had discovered our little secret.

Missed his last tour and still kicking my own butt because I wanted to take my boy. I think or rather hope he'll do another tour so I can see him again.

If memory serves me well, it was the end of Aug. or 1st week of Sept. 1968. I recall it being right around my freshman year of H.S. starting, I was 14 and fresh off my first concert seeing Zappa and The Mother's of Invention in Chi-town that summer at the Electric Elephant.

We had front row seats for The Bob Seger System opening for Vanilla Fudge at S.I.U. Arena in Carbondale,Il. Been telling everyone for years that I recalled him being skinny and jumping around the stage as if he was on fire, plenty of energy. That's the only visual I remember and after reading the comments here my memory was finally jarred and that song was Ramblin' Gamblin' Man. Bob might recall it was a revolving stage.

And we did own a '60 Chevy(until 1967) but I was to young to drive it to Fire Lake for some Nights Moves.

Peace To All

While we were living in the West Branch area in the summer of 1975, Bob Segar performed at the Skidway Lake Farm Festival and my older brother, Craig, also played that concert with his band Slipstream.

As I was only 16 at the time my parents would not let me attend—but my other brother, Brian, and his girlfriend, Joan, and many of their friends went.

Craig always said that Slipstream opened the show, but I have no way of knowing if or not this was true; he did, however, keep a poster from the show which had Bob Segar’s name printed boldly, and Slipstream’s name under Bob’s!

Sadly, only 2-years later, Craig developed multiple sclerosis, and would die from complications of the disease in 1989.

While planning his funeral, it was suggested that we put the poster from the Skidway Lake Farm Festival in the casket, as it was one of Craig’s finest memories, of his life.

Best wishes to Bob and his family, and if anyone might have more concrete memories or facts concerning the Skidway Lake Farm Festival, please feel free to send me an email. Thank you!
